I love to sew.  It not only gives me a sense of satisfaction but it’s also a relaxing creative therapy.  When I learned how to use a sewing machine in 7th grade Home Ec class, I started making clothes for myself.  Since then I have made clothes for my husband and children as well as an occasional present

I am retired from a career in commercial property and project management and I now spend my time sewing, working part-time at Joann Fabric and Crafts, reading, sailing with my husband, and spending time with my two grown children.

I live in Maryland but unfortunately, there are few independent fabric stores in my neck of the woods.  Since I work at Joann’s I see their fabric, notions and their sales three days a week.  The next closest stores are In Baltimore, A Fabric Place, and in Rockville, G Street Fabrics, but because I get to both of these places so infrequently, I buy most of my fabric online.  Being relatively close to New York, I have visited the Fashion District. It is a very dangerous excursion, though, because I always find way more fabric and buttons and trim than I can possibly sew.  My dream is to go to the Sewing Expo in Puyallup, WA. someday.

I started this blog because I love to share my sewing projects with others.  Friends’ eyes tend to glaze over when I talk with them about my hobby, but now I can gab away with new sewing friends who understand and share my passion. I very much look forward to sharing projects, experiences, ideas, and suggestions with you, so please don’t be shy.
